I have decided to go public on metricFS v1.0.0

Many features added (Twitter, VATSIM data recording and others)

Visit download page to proceed.

Some details (from the manual):

metricFS is a utility that you can use to observe and measure metrics from Microsoft’s Flight Simulator series and VATSIM network. Have in mind that wherever coordinates are needed they must be inputted in DECIMAL FORMAT.

Features in version 1.0.0:

  • General flight information page.
  • 2 Types of benchmarking: Passer (Gate Passing) , LandBench (Landing benchmark).
  • Real-time .KML file creation from Flight Simulator.
  • Live Google Maps tracking capability.
  • VATSIM Data View / Search.
  • VATSIM Data export to Microsoft Excel.
  • VATSIM Data export to .KML file
  • User-Defined alerts based on VATSIM online status data.
  • Monitor VATSIM activity in user defined area. User defines the area by a point and specific radius in nautical miles.
  • Send twits to Twitter (http://www.twitter.com) while flying.

metricFS can be useful to:

  • Monitor your flight’s data.
  • Be a virtual tourist by observing real life pictures and info based on your aircraft’s route.
  • Organize events for your VA or vACC by using the Benchmarks. (Air races, Landing competitions, VFR tours e.t.c).
  • Use it to assist you in Pilot exams either as a VA or vACC.
  • Monitor and record traffic during your events.
  • Monitor when your friends are online.

…and many other uses.

Happy new Year to All!

metricFS is a utility that i have been working on for some time. I am using it through my normal flights to browse around Google Maps and discover the place around my plane's postition, but i also plan to use it during our vACC events in order to measure pilots metrics and have some fun!

It is completely freeware and fully functional even though it is released as donateware.

Click on the SOFTWARE menu to register and have access to Downloads and supprt forum.

Hi!

This is a checklist for the marvelous MD-11/F from PMDG. I have striped all the important info from the full checklist and i have left only the items for those who want only the action items. It is by no means what i propose for you to use for maximum realism. If you want to do it right follow one of the full checklists available on the NET.

For the lazy version:

Windows 7 installation... PDF Print E-mail
Written by Elias Stassinos
Wednesday, 18 November 2009 15:57

Never run FS9 under Windows XP. 2 years ago i went directly to Vista.Never had problems i used to say. Now after 1 week of using Win7 with FS9 i can see big difference in the way the system "feels".

Lets start from the beggining.

Having a seperate disk in order to do a clean install of Win7 helped a lot when the time for FS installation came. Installed windows normally with all my apps in about 3-4 hours....And then the ime for FS install came. I have only delt up to now with my first fs9 install. Used it for 2 years...I was told in the beggining NOT to put the FS 9.1 update becasue it was causing more problems than those solved. I didnt know so i did follow the advice not installing it. This time i did it correctly.

From what i found out after asking here and there, i used the following procedure:

1) Install FS9 in root dir (C:\FS9)

2) Reboot

3) Run FS

4) Install 9.1 update

5) Run FS

6) Reboot

7) Replace fs9.exe with the one that does not look for a cd (IMPORTANT: The 9.1 Version of course :)

At this point i created a rar file containing FS along with the dir under c:\users....

8) Copy of my FS9.CFG from the old disk and compare this with the one that was fresh. I used Ultraedit with ultracompare to make the comparison. I verified the differences according to the Tuning procedure that i did with my old installation. You can read this on the left in the section FS Config. After this i overwrote the default fs9.cfg

9) Installed my basic support applications which include: ActiveSky Advanced, FSRealtime, FSairlines, Servinfo, Vroute, FRAPS,

10) Installed FSUIPC , SquawkBox 4, Wideclient.

11) Installed FSRecorder, DBS Walk & Follow, Activecamera, FSPassengers

12) TESTED THE ABOVE CONFIG. Tests include running apps from my laptop to verify wideclient, playing with cameras, tesing online connectivity e.t.c. ALL THE ABOVE with the default sceneries and aircrafts.

13) Installed nHancer and set it up. Verify that AA and other settings are correctly enabled.

14) Installed Zinertek products, GE Pro , FS Global 2010

15) Installed Shockwave lights REDUX

This is a good time to make a general test of all the above to make sure that everything works as it should.

16) Installed all my aircrafts one by one. Dont install all of them without any reboot or test. It is time consuming but FS LIKES VERY MUCH after anything that you install to load fs and exit. I also make a reboot. Too many reboots and too many runs, but thats FS..:)

From now on it was the time for sceneries to be installed...........

What i did was to install everything that i have with installers. I was writing them down and then i test them by going to the airport and see if everything apperas corectly. Scenery installation is not yet completed as i decided to install them on a need to use basis as i want to check for newer versions as i do it.......

That's all folks for now and the setup seems to work flawlessly.......

Windows 7 are here... PDF Print E-mail

Windows 7 replaced my Windows Vista..

Although i was worried about the time needed for my upgrade everything turned out to be easier. It was a great help that i also had my vista setup intact. this helped for soe things like Liveries. I didnt have to install all of them for my aircrafts since i could just copy my aircraft.cfg and texture folders.

I will soon update my fsguide section with much stuff.Staty tuned.
