Flight Simulator 2004 feels comfortable if it resides on the root folder of your drive in a directory without "strange" characters like space. To cut a long story short prefer to put it in "X:\FS9" or something like this. The same should be followed with FSX. C:\fsx is somewhat what is proposed. Be carefull that some addons will look in the default "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Flight Simulator" path. Be sure to change the folder before installing the addon.
